Overview of System

The Securitex Mobile Emergency Activation System (Model: SME-18) is developed by Securitex Electronic Systems Engineering together with our esteem overseas partners, as we foresee more people are going to work alone and in smaller group in a globalize world, when many work processes are replace my machines. We also realized that they need to move from place to place to work. This system will monitor this worker / workers health and safety condition regardless of their location.

Systems Application

One example of such application is use by the Mobile Medical Unit personnel. Oil& Gas technician and engineer that survey pipeline outside their plant. Aviation technician and engineer that need to survey the aircraft on the runway of tarmac. Dispatch rider on motor bike.  Surveyor on board vessel to carryout checking. Military personnel that carryout reconnaissance outside the training area. Security officer that has to man security checkpoint in remote location and even Money Changer that carry large amount of cash and move from places to places.

In all the above application, the key concern is this personnel move from place to place. In the event they fall sick or meet with an accident, loss or even been rob, the system can automatically sent distress messages to the control station to alert for assistant.

Securitex SME-18

Securitex R&D facility in Singapore together with its overseas R&D unit understand the need for such system and has over the pass decade continue to carry out research to come up with a system that can move with the user. Securitex Mobile Emergency Activation System (SME-18) is finally develop. These system incorporate the Wireless Remote Transmitter Call MD-18 that communicate with the SME-18B which is a mobile base station that has a built-in GSM unit that sent out distress (SMSes) Short Message Sent to the monitoring control station.

Securitex Mobile Emergency Activation system (SME-18). The  system is designed and manufactured using very high quality material and electronic component to ensure the system is reliable and user friendly. The mobile base station is also designed to allow easy carry around as its light weight and come will carrying handle and carrying case. The base station is also designed to withstand moisture and rain water to a certain extend. This system can be use as single unit or as a group.

Sensor Carry by User & the type of protection / detection include:

  1. No-motion detection (If the MD-18 detect no motion it will sent a distress signal to the SME-18B).

  2. Tilt-detection (If the MD-18 detect the user is tilted at a certain angle example the person fall or over come by gas it will sent a distress signal to the SME-18B)

  3. Tilt & No motion detection (If the MD-18 is set at this function there must be no motion and tilt then the system sent a distress signal to the SME-18B).

How user carry them?

User / Worker carry the MD-18 usually secured them on their waist using the pouch provided on their waist belt, they can also place them inside their shirt pocket or on any upright convenient location on their body.

Carrying Pouch

The MD-18 is usually place inside a customized carrying pouch as shown below.

                Step 1                                 Step 2                                        Step 3

Detection Method description:

No motion Detection

If the user of the MD-18 keep in the same position without moving for a predetermines period of time example the person lose consciousness on the seat, bed or floor, the MD-18 unit alarm will beep for several seconds as pre alarm warning to the user that the main alarm is about to activated. If he / she is only dosing off then the alarm will wakes him up and a slight movement will reset the system to prevent full scale activation.

Tilt-Detection

If the user of the MD-18 lean over 45 degree for a predetermines period of time, example the person carrying the MD-18 inhales toxic fumes or overcome by allergy of the cleaning agent or the technician get electrocuted when doing electrical maintenance and lose consciousness on the seat or floor, the MD-18 unit alarm will beep for several seconds as pre alarm warning to the user that the main alarm is about to activate, if he / she do not react to this alarm and remain in the tilt position the system will then activate a full scale alarm.

Tilt & No-Motion Detection

If the user of the MD-18 lean over 45 degrees and no motion for a predetermines period of time, example the person carrying the MD-18 inhales toxic fumes or overcome by allergy of the cleaning agent or the technician get electrocuted when doing electrical maintenance and lose consciousness on the seat or floor, the MD-18 unit alarm will beep for several seconds as pre alarm warning to the user that the main alarm is about to activate, If he / she do not react to this alarm and remain in the tilt position the system will then activate a full scale alarm.

Pre-alarm Function

We have designed the MD-18 to have a pre-alarm feature so as to ensure that false alarm is kept to minimum. Example if the worker bent over to pick a tool on the floor or tie his / her shoe lace, the alarm will not set off.

Dip switch setting and AAA rechargeable Battery

The above detection setting is very easy to program by just flipping the dip switch behind the MD-18. The MD-18 uses also uses normal AAA rechargeable battery that is easy to obtain and this battery can use  normal adapter to charge.

Alarm activation

When the lone worker is incapacitated due to illness, injury or overcome by gases etc and he / she ignore the pre-alarm by up-righting the unit, a radio alarm transmission will be sent and the alarm will go off fully accompanied by flashing LED to attract attention.

Radio Alarm transmit

The radio alarm transmitted by the distress user MD-18 can be detected and latched to another co-worker MD-18 unit located nearby or on site (such as a Control Room). There is an audible warning or vibration and the sufferer unit is identified by a numbered light. The audible alarm and the light will stay illuminate until the man down is reset.

Panic Alarm

If the worker is in an emergency condition his / her MD-18 also has a panic button on the unit which the distress worker can press to send an instant radio alarm signal to call for help immediately. The alarm will go off fully accompanied by flashing LED to attract attention.

Group User receive MD-18 emergency signal from fellow colleague

The MD-18 also have a unique feature that can allow the emergency signal from the emergency activated MD-18 to be display on another member MD-18 so as to alert their members nearby that their colleague are in trouble.

More then 3 members in trouble

If there are 3 members having trouble at the same time the other members of the same group will receive the 3 alarm signals and display the corresponding numbers in sequence 1st to 3rd in order.

Mobile Base unit (SME-18)

The Securitex Mobile Emergency Activation Base Station (SME-18B) is a Mobile master base unit that can be carry to the working location, there is no limit to the distant between the SME-18 and the person or control station monitoring this SME-18 unit carry by the worker. The SME-18 when receive a distress signal from the worker MD-18 unit, will sent a pre-record SMS to the monitoring control officer mobile phone. The working distance between the Worker MD-18 and the SME-18 base station is about 25-30 meters subject to the site condition. This means that the worker when reach its place of work can place the Mobile station around his working area to continuously monitor his safety and health condition.

General System Operation

Before the lone worker is dispatch to the site. He / She will need to register with the Control Room where the MD-18B is installed. The Control room Officer-in-charge will need to brief the lone worker on the use of the transmitter (MD-18). (In the event of an emergency or scheduled time reporting, the lone worker will need to press the button once or twice).

Operation will be subject to the Pre-arrange Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).

Test activation

With all wireless system there are always a chance that the signal may not be receive by the MD-18B. In such case when the lone worker has reach his designated work location, he will then need to report his last location and then test activate his transmitter to ensure the transmitted signal is received by the MD-18B.

What happen if for any reason the transmitted signal from the MD-18 did not reach the MD-18B then the MD-18B will need to be relocated within the Frequency Operation Range.
